The Best Silicone Lubes: Long-Lasting Picks Ranked

The best silicone lubes ranked by feel, ingredients and compatibility, with condom notes, a comparison table and tips on silicone toys.

Updated October 2026 · 4 min read

In short
  • Best overall: Uberlube, a pure silicone with vitamin E that lasts.
  • Best classic: Wet Platinum, an ultra-slick, waterproof favorite.
  • Best thin feel: Lubelife Barely There.
  • Never pair silicone lube with silicone toys. Use water-based there.

A good silicone lube is slick, waterproof and long-lasting. A few drops go a long way, and they do not dry out the way water-based gels can. They make up about 28.4% of the market, second only to water-based.

The trade-offs are simple: silicone is not meant for silicone toys, it can stain some fabrics, and it needs soap to wash off. For everything else, it is hard to beat. New to silicone? Beginners should start with just a few drops. If you want a middle road, see hybrid lubes.

Why silicone lasts longer

Silicone lubricants do not absorb into skin or dissolve in water, which is why they stay slick in the shower and rarely need topping up. In the 2012 lab study of over-the-counter lubricants, both silicone products tested (including a Wet Platinum product) were among the safest in the testing algorithm.

Silicone is a staple, but it is not the only way to last. Compare with our long-lasting and shower picks.

Using silicone lube well

  • Start with a few drops. A little really does go a long way.
  • Wash with warm water and soap. Water alone will not remove it.
  • Keep it off silicone toys and be careful with fabrics, which it can stain.
  • With condoms, check the label: JO, ID Millennium, pjur and K-Y state polyurethane compatibility, while Lubelife Barely There does not.

For an easy-clean middle ground, see hybrid lubes.

Questions

Is silicone lube safe with condoms?

It is compatible with latex condoms, and most listings here also state polyisoprene and polyurethane compatibility. Check the label.

Can I use silicone lube with silicone toys?

No. It can degrade silicone toys. Use water-based lube with them.

How do I wash silicone lube off?

Use warm water and soap. Water alone often leaves a slick residue.

Is silicone lube good for the shower?

Yes. Silicone does not rinse away as easily as water-based gels, which is why it is a shower favorite.

Is silicone lube safe for sensitive skin?

Many people with sensitive skin tolerate silicone well because the formulas are short and fragrance-free. Test a small area first.
